How to care for coloured hair.
Five things we tell clients after a colour appointment.
Wait before the first wash
Give fresh colour 48 hours before the first wash. Then use a colour-protect shampoo for every wash.
Purple against yellow
Purple and silver shampoos neutralise yellow tones in blonde, bleached and grey hair. Once or twice a week is enough.
Blue-violet against orange
Lightened dark blonde and brown hair often turns orange. Anti-orange care brings it back to a cooler tone.
Lukewarm water
Hot water roughens the hair surface and lets colour fade faster. Rinse lukewarm, finish cool.
Protect from heat and sun
Heat and UV make colour fade. Use colour-safe heat protection and care with UV filters in summer.
Questions about coloured, blonde and grey hair.
How often should I use purple shampoo?
Once or twice a week instead of your usual shampoo. Used too often, very light hair can take on a lilac tint.
Purple or silver shampoo?
Both neutralise yellow tones. Silver shampoos are often made for grey, white and platinum hair, purple shampoos for all shades of blonde.
How do I make hair colour last longer?
Colour-protect shampoo and conditioner, lukewarm water, fewer washes, heat protection and a hat or UV care in strong sun.
What helps against brassy tones?
Purple care against yellow, blue-violet anti-orange care against orange. Leave it on for one to three minutes.
Is there care for black or brown hair?
Yes, colour shampoos for black and brown hair refresh dark tones between colour appointments.
